PD Dr habil. Stefanie Voigt

PD Dr habil. Stefanie Voigt, adjunct prof. of Memorial University, St. John’s (NFL), is a cultural scientist, art lecturer and aesthetic theorist. She studied art history and philosophy at the Otto-Friedrich University of Bamberg, where she passed the first state examination for the teaching profession at grammar schools in German and history. At the Institute for Theoretical Psychology there, she wrote her doctoral thesis on “The Secret of Beauty. A Model of the Psychological and Mentality-Historical Structures of Aesthetics”. The thesis was graded (0.00) and received the doctoral prize of the Otto Friedrich University of Bamberg. Voigt then taught the subjects psychology, philosophy and art education there.

In 2005 she was admitted to supervise diploma theses at the University of Applied Sciences for Gemstone and Jewellery Design in Idar-Oberstein. From 2005 to 2007, she ran the post-doctoral project “Psychology of Sublimity” with an HSP III scholarship.

After an invitation as a Visiting Scholar to the University of Iowa (USA) and a Visiting Professorship at the Geert Groote University in Deventer (Netherlands), she habilitated in Cultural Studies at the University of Koblenz-Landau. With this, she went to the University of Augsburg, where she still works as a private lecturer. She also taught Creative Marketing Management at the Ansbach University of Applied Sciences and founded the Business Aesthetics Academy, a private academy for interdisciplinary aesthetic theory.

In 2016, she was appointed Adjunct Professor at Memorial University of Newfoundland.

She draws voluntarily for nature and animal protection causes such as BUND Naturschutz or the Jane-Godall-Institut. Together with the Institute for Sustainability, Ms Voigt is working on the further development of an interdisciplinary advanced training in sustainable thinking for responsible persons and interested parties (“Smart Humanities: Applied Aesthetics for the Leadership of Tomorrow’s Industry”).
